Labor & Employment law - Employers only

On September 30, 2024, the Florida minimum wage increased to $13.00 per hour, with a minimum wage of at least $9.98 per hour for tipped employees, in addition to tips.

Florida employers will need to pay this new, higher, minimum wage to their Florida employees during the remainder of 2024 and the first half of 2025.  At the end of September 2025, Florida’s minimum wage will again increase by $1.00 until the minimum wage reaches $15.00 per hour on September 30, 2026. Resuming in 2027, the minimum wage will be adjusted annually for inflation.

An employer may not retaliate against an employee for exercising his or her right to receive the minimum wage.

Florida Statutes require employers who must pay their employees the Florida minimum wage to post a minimum wage notice in a conspicuous and accessible place in each establishment where these employees work. This poster requirement is in addition to the federal requirement to post a notice of the federal minimum wage. Florida's minimum wage poster is available for downloading from the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity’s website by clicking on the language you desire: English, Spanish, and Creole.

Florida employers who have questions about properly paying employees the minimum wage should contact an Employment attorney such as Mr. Miklas by email or calling
